Welcome to our hive
If you’re a local beekeeper, considering keeping bees
for the first time or are just interested in honey bees
we’re here to help.
Education
Included with membership is a free monthly magazine from the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) and our monthly Newbury Beekeepers Newsletter. We also host regular social events plus give you access to beekeeping equipment throughout the season.
Training
Please visit our training page to learn more about the beginner courses we offer aspiring beekeepers. We also encourage you to join as a member and attend our monthly meetings. We hold apiary meetings throughout the summer months and have interesting speakers each month for the rest of the year.
Outreach
If you’re a group, society, school or college that have an interest in honey bees and beekeeping, we can offer a range of activities including visits, talks and stands at local agricultural shows and cultural events. We’re passionate about sharing our knowledge on topics from having bees at the bottom of your garden to highlighting the pressures our pollinators are under.
Swarms
People are often worried when a swarm lands in their garden or near their house because of the noise and concerns about bee stings. If you encounter a swarm of honey bees please do not try to disperse them or destroy them. We need them and they are unlikely to survive in the wild on their own.
